What type of Diaper should you choose?
Here is a great link that includes a glossary of terms and other great articles:

The wool covers (Sckoon organics, Little Beetle or Woolly Bottoms) are recommended for night time use, because they are a completely breathable diapering system.
Prefolds are a great versatile diaper. They can be used as a diaper, economical and very absorbent doubler, changing pads on the go, dust rags (when you retire them as diapers), and several other uses. See Diaper Folding Section to learn how a prefold fits on a baby. Snappi Diaper Fasteners are great to use with or without a cover. Snappi's are recommended if using a prefold with a snap-on cover, but is not necessary with velcro closure covers. Simply place the prefold in the diaper cover and snug diaper cover closed with velcro closure and diaper stays snuggly in place. Prefolds are very easy to use! They last a great length of time, easily through two children.
All in one Diapers are the most like a disposable diaper in design. The cover is attached to the inner absorbent material. They are great for the diaper bag or situations you need a diaper in a hurry. They are more handy as your baby gets to be a toddler and can be harder to stop them for a change. They do not last quite as long as prefold diapers due to the cover being attached. They are also not as absorbent as prefold or fitted diapers. If you have a heavy-wetter, it is recommended you use a doubler if using an all-in-one diaper.
Pocket Diapers are great for on the go, night-time (fleece / suede cloth keeps baby feeling dry), and are over all a great diapering system. They tend to hold up quite well over time and clean well with a two-part system (pocket diaper with insert). Use one microfiber insert for daytime and two microfiber inserts for night-time or heavy wetters. Or you can use one hemp insert for heavy wetters or night time use. You can use an insert designed for pocket diapers or prefolds if you are looking for a more economical and absorbent insert.
Fitted Diapers are easy to put on with snaps or velcro. They clean very well. Diaper covers are necessary. Fitted Diapers are quite durable and last through several washes.
We believe in order to succeed at cloth diapering you need a system that will best suit your families needs. Please contact us for assistance in ordering your diapering system. We do not offer "sample packages" because we feel it is a waste of money to buy for example 6 different diapers or covers and you may only like only one or two styles.
Overwhelmed by the choices?
Let us help you get set up right the first time without spending extra money on other packages. You have a choice of 12, 18, 24, or 36 diapers. We recommend 24 or 36 for newborn/infants and 18-24 for infant/toddlers, 12-18 for toddlers/preschool age and 12 for a part-time package. We recommend 6-8 covers for newborn/infants, 4-6 for toddler-preschool age. |
